The total distance of the Inca trail is approximately 45 kilometres, departing from the place known as Kilometre 82. The trek is rated moderate and any reasonably fit person should be able to cover the route.
An acclimatization period of at least 2 days in Cusco or at elevations above 3000m/9840ft is recommended. If arriving from sea level, plan to spend at least 2 full days in Cusco prior to commencing the trek. This should allow plenty of time for acclimatization and give you sufficient opportunity to visit the Archaeological Capital of America visiting the Main Plaza, the Cathedral, Temple of the Sun Koricancha and its nearby ruins such as Qenqo, Puca Pucara, Tambomachay and Sacsayhuaman, and visiting the historic Urubamba Valley. the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Pisaq ruins, Afterward, Pisaq market and more.”
IMPORTANT: Due to restrictions on the number of people allowed to trek the Inca Trail daily by the Peruvian Government, we recommend booking at least 3 months in advance (4 months for the May-September peak season) to ensure that you can trek your desired dates, however you can ask us for availability. If the Inca Trail is already fully booked on the departure date that you require you can always consider one of the Alternative Inca Trail Treks.

*If you prefer, you can take an option, you stay overnight in this area (highly recommended). Free day at leisure. It is recommended a second entrance to the ruins to see the sunrise and also to climb to the Wayna Picchu. Early risers who catch the first bus to the mountaintop will be rewarded with an ancient city almost free of other visitors. In the afternoon, return to Aguas Calientes to catch the train back to Cusco. Please ask your travel agent for more information.

Overnight in the Sacred Valley of the Incas:

Maras Salt Mines and Moray:
We visit the ruins of Tipon, It is one of the most elaborate examples of agricultural terracing created by the Incas and also we visit Pikillacta, It’s the only pre-Inca site in the Cusco area. This adobe complex was built around 700 to 900 AD by the Wari. On the way we will have a delicious picnic lunch and end the day with a visit to the chapel of Andahuaylillas with its famous paintings. (L). Return to Cusco.

Whitewater Rafting in the Sacred Valley:
You will be collected from your hotel early in the morning and transported to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You will receive your safety talk and equipment. After a brief period practicing on the flat parts of the river, the first part of the tour will be in easy water but with spectacular views of the mountains and archeological remains, passing down to Ollantaytambo and its Inca terraces and we find rapids class II and III finishing with “El Resbaladero” (the slippery one) which a strong class III rapid that includes waves and small whirlpools. Then we will have a lunch at the side of the river in a traditional restaurant owned by the local community. We will enjoy the spectacular Andean cuisine and help to support a local community project. Return to Cusco.

Back Riding Sacred Valley (Paso Fino Horses):
This Tour is designed for travellers who want to come into close contact with natural environments while enjoying adventures. Enjoy a horseback riding across the Sacred Valley to Maras Moray Salt Mines. After our visit of Moray we will continue our ride to Maras Town (3400 mts) for approximately one hour. Maras is a typical Andean village that boasts a beautiful 400 year colonial old church; we will enjoy our picnic lunch in Maras. After our lunch we will continue hour ride to Maras Salt mines (3000 mts) for aprox 1 hour to once we arrive to this place, we will be impressed by the sight of the snow-capped mountains of Chicon, Veronica, Salcantay. Return to Cusco.
